Humanities in the “Posthistorical” University Andrei Gornykh, European Humanities University (Lithuania), Mellon Visiting Professor Andrei Gornykh is a Professor in the Media Department at the European Humanities University (Vilnius) and author of “Formalism: From Structure to Text and Beyond” (2002) and “Media and Society” (2013). He reads various cultural texts (philosophy, literature, visual arts, media) through the critical and psychoanalytical optics trying to detect social logic on its formal “surface.” His presentation is focused on the the social context of the production of knowledge, the university as a social institution, and the fate of humanities in the postmodern university (European Humanities University will serve as a case).
